Auxiliary Corps
The Auxiliary Corps is a division of the
Marsilion Armed Forces and is basically an adventurer's guild. It hires on numerous capable, but irregular forces for odd jobs or bounties. They're not typically trusted with much in the way of sensitive intelligence, but their capabilities and willingness to employ force make them useful nonetheless.
Following the establishment of the current Marsilion government, there were calls from independent adventurers to form an independent Adventurer's Guild. However, this idea was shot down. The Trade Union had heavily subsidized mercenaries, and many citizens reported unscrupulous or needlessly violent behavior from the mercenaries. When the new government was established, they decided not to dole out the legitimate use of violence, and instead opted to create the auxiliary corps as a division of the MAF. Thus auxiliaries are subject to military laws and regulations. While they are allowed to operate independently, they are required to obey orders from MAF officers.

Membership
Membership in the in the auxiliary corps is purely voluntarily for signing up and deployment. Members, sometimes just called Aux, are paid for the work done but no obligations exist.
Members work solo or in teams at their discretion. How payment is divided among teams is up to that them.
Recruiting
Aux are signed up at
MAF information centers in the city or at the main base.
Upon signing up aux recruits are evaluated for their own physical, mental, magical, and combat abilities. Instructions are provided for how to recognize monsters and sentient to avoid inadvertent people slaughtering.
Members are taught to not get in over their head. For large threats they are to call in for backup which the MAF itself may respond to.
Classification
While Aux members don't have ranks they do have classifications based on experience and ability. Higher classifications are simply used for when bigger threats are found though individual qualifications may override this. higher classifications are not
- Recruits - Aux members under evaluation with a senior aux or an MAF NCO or Officer.
- Normal Aux Members - Normal auxiliary members, rarely called in for specific tasks and most take jobs as they become available.
- Veteran Aux Members - Individuals whose capability and reliability has been proven. Sometimes called in for specific tasks and have access to higher level job lists.
- Elite Aux Members - Highly capable individuals capable of handling difficult tasks and troubles. Same job lists as veterans but are often called in for specific tasks. Often work with the MAF directly.
Deployment
Aux are deployed in several ways
Job Lists
The most common ways Aux members get jobs is taken from the job lists at Aux headquarters. Two job lists are offered, basic and advanced for generic threats and jobs. Sometimes there is simply patrol/guard of town roads/entrances. Sometimes its scouting a disturbance. This are a first come first serve.
Call Ins
For specific threats that an Aux is suited for they may be called in to handle. This is not a mandatory function.
Self Deployment
For standing bounties, and known reoccurring threats Aux are encouraged to deal with them or contact support once one is found in the vicinity to town. There are known threats like creatures from Ragel or monsters that have established populations in the area around Marsilion. Auxiliaries can observe to make sure these known targets are non-sapient, and can deal with them. Bounties are paid out with proof of kill.
Mass Deployments
In times of large scale town threats the Aux may be pulled in to deploy with and support the MAF itself. This is always a call in function. Aux kept at home may be deployed to beef up town defense while the MAF is deployed.
Main MAF Relations
While working for the
MAF the Aux corps are not MAF members themselves and thus membership does not grant base or supply access beyond what civilian has or their current job requires. Individuals may vary based on conditions. Aux do have direct access to MAF for reports and requesting aid.
