Lake Moriana is the freshwater lake that borders Marsilion. It's fed by several rivers and has a single outlet running north. It is a mesotrophic lake with a variety of aquatic animal life from across the multiverse. The lake is approximately 30-50 miles across depending on where you measure from, so from the ground you can't see the other side.

Geology

Lake Moriana is a glacial lake that formed sometime in the last 20,000 years, though the exact conditions that created it are hard to determine. Given the chaotic nature of the world, it hasn't been determined if it was a normal ice age, or something like a whole glacier just migrating in.

Beneath the lake, there are a series of large caverns that were apparently carved out by some colossal worm-like creature. The worm is strongly believed to be long-dead, but the caverns persist as a source of mystery, winding for miles. They have not been fully mapped, only areas where they break into the lake bed have been marked.

Biology

As a mesotrophic lake, the water is fairly clear, with plant life being able to thrive on and under the surface. The nutrient levels are intermediate range, so algae blooms are unlikely to occur. A large variety of animal life from across the multiverse populates the lake, from platypuses to pokemon. The government of Marsilion is working carefully to keep the lake clean and free of farm run-off, and promotes sustainable fishing practices for feeding the city.
