Rayana is a golden eagle avess, with golden eyes and waist-length brown hair. Her wings don't fold flat, instead sticking out at a 45° angle.
History
Rayana was born to Asmara, a dancer (who died in childbirth), and Ilya, a tanner & woodworker. She grew up with Ilya and her maternal great-aunt Kuldra, who taught her the dances common to her people and her matriline. Ilya died in a house fire when she was nineteen, leaving her messenger bag and the puzzle box & notebooks inside as the only memento of his time in the living world.

Eagle eyes
Being a golden eagle, Rayana's eyes are much sharper than a human's, allowing her to see ultraviolet, distinguish more shades of color, and spot prey up to 3.2 km (2 mi) away.
Hearing
While golden eagles have a much smaller audible frequency range than humans, their hearing is more acute within that range, able to pick up variations in tone, pitch, and rhythm that would otherwise go unnoticed.
